Well, after three quiet days in Damascus (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) our kids returned to school on Tuesday. They "moodled" on Sunday and Monday. Well, they were supposed to moodle which isn't exactly what happened. It was a fairly good indicator that, in spite of oodles of preparation with my kids all year (we've have moodle assignments of various types each week), they lack the independence needed to sit in front of their computer and do their assignments. They also lack things like printers and scanners which makes it even more challenging to Moodle.
At any rate, they are back now. They have had a moodle assignment daily. Many still don't quite understand that when you are given an "online" assignment, I don't want them to bring the hard copy into school the next day. I want them to submit the hard copy online. A part of me wishes I could just visit each of their homes and walk them through the process. I've shown them on our projector, but when it comes to questions such as "How do I work my scanner" I can't really help because I don't know what kind of scanner they have. Ahhh, the joys of teaching.
So we keep plugging along. Tomorrow is the last day of the week. I am sort of glad that we only had a three day week with students. It's been a long three day week. I am tired and stressed, but continue to put one foot in front of another.
This evening I had my second outting since I came back. Coffee at Sale Sucre with my friend. It was a good time. I must say I was a tetch jumpy when the lights went out. Dishes being dropped would also cause me to jump. Clearly I'm a little on edge.
On a more positive note, the kitties are all doing well and have adjusted to my return. All seven of the garden kittens have returned and are just that much more adorable now that they don't hiss and swat at me. Don't get me wrong - little orange guy with the moustache - still swatting and hissing. The rest are perfectly content with a human in their garden.
Wish I had more to report. It's been rainy and cool here. Today it even felt like snow. (this is an actual weather report - no need to read between the lines). I am missing my winter coat. I am beginning to think it's colder here than in Saskatchewan based on the weather reports I am getting from friends and family. Perhaps my next posting will have to be back to somewhere warm-ish. Not Kuwait crazy hot, but at least somewhere that I can't see my breath!
Love to you all. Staying safe and sound.
