This, that and the other thing

I came home early today.  Since arriving at home, I have been just as busy as I was when I was at school.  I had planned to come home and settle in for a nice quiet evening.  Instead I worked on my university course, got documents scanned for my health insurance claim and then did some other scanning.  And there goes the entire evening.  Regardless, it's been a non-horrible day.

School this week is a short week.  I am glad.  I am really ready for a long weekend. It's been a long start to the school year.  However, this week is the first non-horrible week (thus far).  Two more days to go.  I'm still optimistic for a non-horrible work.

Internet has been unreliable for the last few days.  It's made things like checking facebook and working on my online course (can you tell where my priorities are?) a bit of a challenge.  Regardless, I am up to date with my uni class.  Facebook will have to wait.

I bought my new mixer yesterday.  I am glad to have it, although I probably should have waited a month or two.  Regardless, I have it and it's been put to good use.  At the end of the month, we'll be having a a bbq to honour our workers at the school.  I will be on dessert patrol.  My new mixer will make the preparations so much more pleasant.  Now if only I had a big oven :)

My university class has been a little less than enjoyable.  We're spending a lot of time reading really old articles about the foundations of curriculum, and then having to apply theories from 40 years ago to what we're doing in the classroom today.  Such a challenge.  At any rate, I hope that things pick up in the next few modules.  Otherwise, I will grin and bare it and hope that my January class is more enjoyable.

This weekend, it will be a very quiet weekend.  There will be no grand gala for Thanksgiving.  I don't have the time, energy or money right now.  I am actually okay with it.  It will be nice to just have a nice, low key, school focused weekend.

Other than that, life is ticking along.  I am officially not coming home for Christmas, and will just spend the two weeks of holidays in Damascus.  I have the tree and all the fun, so it's not a hardship.  If worse comes to worse, I will take a jaunt to Kuwait or Europe to visit some friends.

And on that note, I shall sign off.  It's 8:10 and I could foreseeably be asleep within the next 20 minutes, but that requires the conclusion of my email.

Talk to you all soon,

Tylene

Hi, Ty,
We're just back from a trip to ON and QC to visit two of G's cousins who are battling cancer. We went east by train, our favourite way to travel. Leased cars to link up the train rides. Good visits, two great plays, lots of walking and swimming. The leaves were in gorgeous Fall reds! I'm thankful that Myrtle is more like Ella than Henry - no punishment, just welcome on our return.
Now back to work, at the College - and around here - no excuse - it is so warm and sunny. I've started painting the trim outside and we're liking the colour we chose - a darkish pewter. The doors will be a deep burgundy red, hopefully before snow falls.
Good luck with the class; as you get into the senior classes, they should become more interesting. Why don't you ask about substituting alternate resources? The prof might appreciate having her/his bibliography updated at no expense or effort (to him/herself)!
Hope your energy level rises to the many challenges you've set yourself. So you can enjoy even old ho-hum jaunts like Athens!!
Lots of love, Lynn
