The tree is up and decorated. The wreath is on the front door. The weather is down right chilly. The school's campus is all decked out for Christmas. Students are frantically getting ready for the Christmas plays (which I have NOTHING to do with) It really must be that time of year.
It's been a busy week since my last posting (at least I think it's only been a week since I last wrote). We've been busy getting progress reports completed so they could go out today. I must say that we have an abundance of progress reports, it would seem. Progress reports go out every quarter. There are four quarters. At the end of the quarter, students also get a report card, so, the reality is that it seems we're preparing reports of one variety or another every month because we ARE preparing reports. It certainly forces me to stay on top of my grading.
Aside from progress reports, my choir had our Christmas Concerts this past weekend. Two concerts were held in the school cafeteria/auditorium on Friday and Saturday night. Then, last evening, we sang at the Four Seasons Hotel for the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. The hotel is big and fancy and posh, so it was quite the event to get to attend.
And now, it's Saturday evening and I'm finally getting back to finishing my blog posting. Following the concert on Monday at the Four Seasons, I had a voice lesson on Tuesday. Things are going well on that end, but it's going to be a long while before I am up and back to my "old" voice - if I get there. Right now we're focusing a lot on getting the muscles used for singing. It is a lot more work than it used to be. I can no longer just open my mouth and sing. At any rate, I'm excited for the ways that things will improve with practice over the next several months.
Wednesday evening was the Christmas play an it was busy busy busy. It was a great show. Our music teacher did a wonderful job with the students. Parents were proud as can be to see their little people out and about. Following the concert, I went out with some of my "Damascus family". We went to Ninar's for Chicken in a Jar - it's become somewhat of a tradition. In fact, we went again on Friday and will go again on Tuesday. It's great food, with great friends and great ambiance.
I suspect that this coming week is going to drag on and on and on. I am wanting it to go very quickly, so that I can get on the plane and come home. Friday can't come soon enough. It's not that I don't love it here, it's just that I'm really ready for a holiday and am really looking forward to some time in the snow :)
At any rate, things are really beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Today it rained and rained. I am fairly sure that when they repair the cracks in my walls/ceiling that that will help with the rain that was leaking today. Oh, did I mention that my apartment will be painted when I am gone on holidays...I am most excited to come back and put all my pictures up around my apartment. They will all look very nice, I am sure.
Well, it is Saturday night and I do have to work in the morning, so I best be getting on my way. I'll try to touch base before the end of the week, but if I don't know that the Christmas letter will be posted sooner or later.
Until next time,
Tylene
