I have been back in Kuwait for just three sleeps and I am proud to say I no longer feel cold. The first days here were awfully hot...not just temps in the high 40's but also humidity making it feel like it well in the 50's. Today was a pleasant day...by after school anyway! The morning was still quite humid, but by the time I walked home, it was actually somewhat comfortable. Crazy to think that temperatures in the 40's are "comfortable".
It's been a busy time since I arrived home. Henry had to be taken to the vet my second day here...the poor guy had an abscessed tooth that was infected...the vet plucked it out, shot him full of antibiotics and by 12:30 that night he was almost back to his old self. Now, he's quite delighted at the canned cat food (even when it has a schmushed up pill in it). I hope he doesn't think it will be this way forever...the smell of the stuff makes me gag! Needless to say, Henry has been more distant than usual, but things are turning around. Last night he began the infamous "I'm at the end of the hall way all by myself, won't you please tell me where you are" crying. It's rather entertaining when my little "Eeyore" starts his show. In the end, Henry curled up on my bed and was open to pets...he's really coming around!
Ella has settled right in to having her person home. It took all of about 30 minutes before she "remembered" who I was. Since then, every time I leave the room, I am followed by this little "meow, meow...where are you going? Don't leave me!!!". She's full of snuggles, most of which I don't mind. The 2:30 in the morning snuggles, which involves sleeping on my head leaves something to be desired, but other than that I'm glad to have kitty time again. I sure missed the both of them.
As for school, well, some things never change. There seems to be a certain level of chaos that is the first weeks of school. My classroom is not ready, 'though it will be by the time Sunday arrives. Word on the street is that our little gaffers (Pre-K, KG-1 and KG-2) will be starting a week or so later than the rest of us...fear of H1N1. Very possible that the ministry will decide to close schools for a while....who knows. H1N1 is very prominent here now...signs up all over the place. Rumour has it that Kuwait has the largest number of cases per capita...not sure if that is true, but that's what the rumour mill says.
I am delighted with all my supplies that I brought back with me this summer. As I start to get things set up, I realize that I may have gone a little bit overboard with my spending. Regardless, I love my "teachery things from the teacher store".
The voice is still...well, what's the best way to describe it...lacking. My P.A. system is in my room, now I just need to get it all set up. Hopefully it can work magic. Still a little concerned how all will work itself out. Will be seeing my surgeon tomorrow and hoping that he will have something positive to say. I must admit that, at this point, there is little comfort in knowing that it could take up to a year for my voice to return. I just want it now.
So that's the first few days in Kuwait. It is the holy month of Ramadan, so everything is a little off kilter. Regardless, I'm glad to be back and getting settled into a routine. If only there were a few more hours in the day so that I could do a little more work.
I will attempt, as much as possible to write each week...more often if anything exciting or out of the ordinary happens. Until then, much love.

Hi, Tylene,
You really don't waste any time, do you?! Already the first blog from Kuwait Year II. Thanks for the fun stories about your kitties. I'm glad they were there to welcome you 'home'.
Our renovations are actually becoming a reality. We've bought the shower, the guy who will replace the septic tank was here this AM and I've been drawing plans for the little space that will become a three-quarter bath, and the even littler space that will continue to be a very efficient pantry. We need to select flooring and new counter top - nice task - but let's not rush anything!
S and I are going on the cemetery tour this weekend with your Mom. There will be lots of food and fun. Wish you were here!
Looking forward to more blogs,
Love, Lynn
