So I have been a little lax in getting my blogs out each week...but what can you expect when I've spent the last month gallivanting around Europe (tee hee hee)
At any rate, I will make up for it this week with many a post and pictures of life as it was in the last month. Perhaps weekly blog updates will be my new year's resolution!
I was delighted to come home yesterday and arrive to an apartment that feels "like home". It's so great to finally feel "settled in"...a feeling that certainly makes the whole life-in-the-desert a whole lot easier to take!
I took a few pictures of my apartment before I left...I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Now, to fix the leak in my spare bathroom (yes, I have two bathrooms...one is technically now my laundry room, but still!)
The front door...Enter at your own risk (tee hee hee)
Sadly the pretty wooden look is actually just really good mack-tack. Meh, what can you do! For those who wish to visit, Number 51!
As you walk in the front door, you see my fabulously orange accent wall and my living room! The furniture leaves a little something to be desired, but I did what I could with what I have. It's amazing how much better it looks in my apartment now that it is painted.
Oooh, check out the brown curtains too! Loverly, and custom made!
And the chair...the most comfortable thing I've ever sat in! Now just need to make a wee bit of money to buy the matching stool!
This is my little corner. you see it just as you come in the front door. I'd wanted a closed cabinet because I have a turd of a cat that steals things. This way I could lock away my pretties and she'd not be able to get 'em. Tee hee hee. I'm smarter than my cat! HOWEVER, whoever said putting doors on a cabinet was easy, must have some sort of architecture degree or something. SERIOUSLY took all night to assemble this one. Many thanks to Mel, a dear friend, who helped with the assembly of this and many other IKEA pieces.
My Kitchen. check out all those cupboards. My previous Kuwait apartment had two cupboards and four draws. Needless to say, i am enjoying the space. Walls, are of course, floor to ceiling tile. I have a balcony off my kitchen as well!
My main bathroom...can't find a shower curtain to fit from wall to wall...freakishly long. Will need to get another curtain to extend it! More great IKEA purchases include the standing shelf in the corner and the little stool that stores my towels.
This is my bedroom. I know the curtains are quite bright, but it looks really cool. I've tied the green into the area rug as well as into a little IKEA box thing at the foot of my bed. The last picture shows the great decorator I am in using multiple colours in one room.
I will get pics up on the walls and then it shall be complete, but it is already much more homey than I could have imagined.
