Hello dear friends and family,
I am officially one hour into my Christmas holiday. It is hard to believe that, although just the 4th of December, I'm already finished for 2008. At the same time, I am exhausted, so this break couldn't come at a better time.
In the past week I have moved into my new apartment, picked out curtain and paint colours, had my apartment painted and curtains hung and shopped 'til I dropped. Well, after I finish blogging with all of you I will shop 'til I drop...off to Ikea.
I arrived home from work yesterday to find my apartment painted and my curtains hung. Finally, for the first time since I've been here, I felt "at home". I am so please with how things turned out. Keep an eye out for pictures...I'll post them in the next day or two.
On Monday, December 8, 2008 I will leave for Ireland. The first stop on my European adventure. I thought ahead to bring my winter coat, but didn't plan appropriate footwear, so one of the first purchases I make when I arrive will be winter boots. Last evening I went looking for boots here...apparently if I have size 6 feet I can find them...other wise, no such luck!
Following six days in Ireland I'll fly to London for two days of sight-seeing on my own prior to meeting up with the tour group which whom I'll spend the rest of my time in Europe. I am very excited about this trip, although, the idea of not being home for Christmas is starting to hit me. Regardless, it will be an adventure of a lifetime! Afterall, if I were living in Canada, I don't think I could be in a position in which I would be able to jet off to Europe for a month!
My housekeeper, Ruby, has agreed to take care of the cats, so I am thankful that they won't need to be kenneled while I'm gone. Henry is having a difficult time adjusting to life in the new apartment...it's just not familiar yet and there are constantly strange men there...get your mind out of the gutter...the workers have been in and out painting, moving, fixing and so on!
As f0r those who are anxiously awaiting my Christmas letter, fear not...it will arrive. I'm tossing around the idea, however, or writing it while I'm in Europe and sending it as a New Year's letter. I suppose I could always write two letters...I'm highly linguistic.
Anywho, I should be off...can't spend money if I don't leave the school. As I sit in my classroom listening to Roger Whittaker's Christmas album and enjoying the lack of children's pittering, pattering little feet in the hallways, I feel quite relaxed. At the same time, I think I've spent enough time here this year. Today's temperature is a chilly 17 degrees celcius. But it is a nice sunny day!
Check back for a picture update in the next day or so!
All my love (and Grover's too!)

Hey Tylene:) I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling at home in your new place. Are you still quite close to the school?
And how exciting to finally be heading to Europe for your Christmas break! I hope you have a wonderful time (I have no doubts that you will):)
Looking forward to seeing the pics of your apartment, AND of Ireland and England! Take good care of yourself.
Love Bonny (and Mark)
Hi, Ty,
As I write, it's 30 something below, which feels like 40 something below with the wind chill. Remember that?! So now go enjoy Europe and being in Rome on Christmas Eve!
On December 5, we three went to Mark and Bonny's for his birthday and a ride behind the two Canadian geldings he is training to drive. Not quite enough snow for the sleigh but they gave us a good time in the hay wagon. They are big boys now but still cute - each one listens to Mark but also keeps an eye on the other guy to make sure he is pulling his fair share. What a pair!
Wow - sending your students off for holidays, moving, choosing colours, organizing workers and a housekeeper to cat sit - you'll be glad to just think about yourself until school reopens!!
Like Bonny, we're looking forwerd to reading more about your trip - but enjoy it first and foremost. And thank you for a fun and sweet Christmas poem.
Lots of love,
Lynn and Garth
