Well, it's my last evening in Singapore. Sadly, spending Christmas holidays in Singapore while recovering from surgery really limits the degree to which you can enjoy the festivities. Aside from a daily walk to get coffee, and walks to and from the hospital, much of my time here was spent resting and recuperating. I started to really feel more like myself by Thursday and as I was going for my daily coffee run to Starbucks, I was so sad to see the amazing Christmas display was being taken down. I'd missed my opportunity for an evening selfie. Heck, I'd missed my opportunity for a day-time selfie. Oh well. Perhaps I will find myself in Singapore again sometime...like next year...but not during the holidays :) The decor started to be set up in early November...so I'm sure by next November I will be ready to re-visit Singapore and experience the merriment of the decor to the fullest.
Recovery is going well. I had a great report from the doctor yesterday and was given the green light to fly tomorrow. However, I am not at all looking forward to dealing with the change in cabin pressure. We'll see how it goes. So far I haven't had any bad nose bleeds so maybe I will be in luck. I still have about 10 days of holidays left once back in Surabaya so I will continue to enjoy the time off. I will also get to work on my capping paper for my Masters. Come April 8th, we'll all be celebrating the completion of my masters.
I guess a good thing about all the solitary time during the holidays is that I was able to really just slow down. When I reflect on 2013, it's kind of been a whirl wind. The trouble with my voice started so early in the year (March) it just seems like so much of the year was spent dealing with my voice (which it was).
The summer was also a whirl-wind. Between two online courses in May/June, camp in July and university in August, I really haven't had much down time. It was good to have this time to just really rest.
The upcoming months, as always, will be quite busy. I am looking forward to getting back to work (in many ways) and will have a busy time with my fourth graders. The last half of the year include some of my favourite units. It will make teaching a lot of fun...I hope.
So, as I begin 2014, I am doing so feeling rested and ready for the challenges that the upcoming year will bring. Right now, I'm counting down to when my momma comes for a visit. We're already into January. Then it's gonna be February. And then March (aren't you glad I stated the first three months of the year?) Mom arrives mid-march. We're almost there.
I will also try to spend a little more time blogging. We'll see how that goes. Thanks for taking time to read.
Until next time.
Ty

Tylene, it sounds as if you are rejuvenated and ready for a new year ahead. I'm a bit jealous as my holiday exhausted me more than replenish me. Here's to hoping 2014 is as amazing as you are. Cheers to a fabulous year.
Hi, Ty,
Belated Happy New Year! Is your recovery to the pint where you can celebrate a little with friends? Enjoy the last days of holidays and be ready for a new term at school.
Your Mom's visit provides a deadline for getting that last paper written , doesn't it? I know she's really looking forward to it. We've been subject to brutal cold and miserable colds, so I imagine thinking about hot weather clothes is fun!
Lots of love, Lynn
