This final paper should come together quite easily...that's what I am saying now...remind me in a few weeks when I'm complaining that I don't know what I am supposed to be writing, okay! At any rate, in many ways we've done a lot of the work along the way. Now it's just a matter of putting it all together and reflecting on the process...let's just hope it comes together as easily as I am hoping. I just keep telling myself that it is pass/fail, it is edited by my prof all throughout, sent back for revisions, and then revisions are edited...so that being said, I am hoping to have a solid paper in the end.
About an hour into my writing this morning, my Skype rang. It was my prof. She was just making her way through all the students to ensure we knew what we were supposed to be doing for our paper. I kind of chuckled to myself because our 20 minute conversation was essential her reiterating what was very clearly written in the course syllabus. At any rate, it was nice to have the chance to check in, and was encouraged at the prospect that, if things go as well as I am hoping, I will have the entire paper finished in 6 weeks, as opposed to three months. 6 weeks is my goal. Let's just see if I can swing it!
Since I didn't start working on my paper until this morning, that means I had yet another week of holidays to fill. It was another very restful week. Although surgery put a huge damper on my holiday, I am so very happy with the solid rest that I have been able to get during the break. This week was not any different. Rose was here this week, so it was nice to have some human company. I was also fortunate to be kitty sitting. I had a young (perhaps 2 months?) kitten for much of the winter break. Randolph was an absolute delight...he really brightened my spirits.
Much of my time spent at home was spent curled up with a sleeping kitty and reading. I think over the course of the break, I have read six books...just for fun. I have 4 more just for fun books that will occupy my spare time in the coming weeks. I had forgotten how much fun it is to read...just for fun. By Wednesday, I was ready for daily outings. My outing on Wednesday and Friday took me to one of my favourite places in Surabaya - Glow. Because I still can't put my face in the massage table face thinner, I settled for an hour of reflexology followed by a 30 minute shoulder and neck massage. Thursday's outing involved some social time with another colleague who had returned early from break. We went to the theatre to see The Secret Life of Water Mitty. It was a delightful story, and I highly recommend it.
Saturday was strictly an "at-home" sort of day and Sunday saw the start of what I hope to be a regular work-out routine. I went to my first Body Pump class since the fall. Although my shoulder is still a bit out of sorts, I figured there is no time like the present to start to slowly ease back in to the routine. It was a great class and I imagine, as always, tomorrow I will want to DIE, but I am glad I went. I kept my weights nice and light so as to stay within the requirements of what I can lift post-surgery and all went well. I even managed to get in 30 minutes of cardio...15 before and 15 after. There was a video circulating on Facebook this week about a woman who took a 100 day fitness challenge...she challenged herself to work out everyday for 100 days. Well, I'd like to say that I am going to meet that challenge, but who knows what the next 100 days is going to bring. So, instead, I've decided to try to work out every day for 10 days. And if I can do that 10 times, my ability to math tells me that it will be 100 days in no time :) Let's just see how the first 10 go :) I rewarded myself with a mani and pedi after my work out today. On Tuesday, I have another session of reflexology and massage already booked. It feels great to be taking care of myself :)
Tomorrow is Monday...I go back to work officially on Wednesday, though since I have two new students starting on Wednesday, I think heading back for a few hours tomorrow might be a good idea. I have been very good about staying away from all thing school. i really did need that sort of break.
Well, I suppose that is all I have to report. I've included a few pics of the last few weeks...nothing too exciting.
Miss you all and can't wait for a visit. :)

So cute...he spent many an hour curled up, sound asleep. Always had to be touching.

Aren't I a happy patient. Can't see the black eye yet...it was quite little...just made me look really tired.

This is what happens when they can't find a vein for the iv. The bruise just healed this week and was sore the WHOLE time.

This is where they stick you with needles when you don't have veins on the top of your hand for an iv. It was very painful. I was so happy when they took it out the day after my surgery.

Hi, Tylene,
Hope you're enjoying being back to normal life with your students - and a strong voice?
Can't wait to hear that the paper is finished!
