The Annual Christmas Letter 2013

The Annual Christmas Letter 2013
December 24, 2013

Twas the day before Christmas, at least over here;
Housing was quiet; I wish family were near.
The Christmas lights twinkled on wreath and on tree;
It is starting to feel like Christmas to me!

In the days leading up to these merriest days;
I have been busy, in the Christmassy ways.
Cookies are baked and are frozen for later;
Perogies are made, filled with cheese and some ‘tater

I rolled cabbage rolls and will see how they taste;
I certainly hope they’ll be yummy, not waste!
So the food part of Christmas is all set to go;
The only thing missing is a wee bit of snow!

It seems that each year passes more swiftly than last;
So now I’ll reflect on the year that has past;
Here are the highlights from twenty-thirteen
The year has been busy; you’ll see what I mean!

I continued my Masters, resumed classes in May;
I have one paper left, and then I can play!
I really enjoyed my research assignment;
Now all of my ducks are in proper alignment!

This year I turned 40, and had quite a blast;
I achieved a small goal I had set in the past.
On my 40th birthday, I ran a 5 K;
I am thankful for friends who took part in that day!

The summer was wild, it was ever-so-crazy;
I was kept rather busy; I was not at all lazy!
Although camp was quite different, I was glad I was there
It was a highlight of summer, but I sure missed the bear!

While at camp, I played farmer and looked after the herd;
Two sheep and a “bull”, I learned that is the word!
I prefer “baby cow” and he was really quite sweet!
I had fun being farmer it was really quite neat!

The staff in the kitchen rocked it out of the park;

We were all in it together; no one was left in the dark!
We made groovy aprons and we worked as a team!
They are quite awesome people, Kenosee Camp was a dream!

From camp I came home and I started to pack;
One suitcase for uni, before heading back.
Three weeks in Alberta, two more classes complete;
I can’t say it’s time that I’d want to repeat.

From uni, I drove back to momma’s once more;
I had twelve awesome hours to curl up on the floor.
I packed two more suitcases, and hung out with my kin;
Though for just a short time, it was total, “win-win!”

The next morning I boarded a very long flight;
And arrived back in Indo quite late the next night.
The next morning was school, and I was there for the kids;
I tried to be perky even with sleepy eye-lids.

School is school, and the days swiftly fly;
For that I am happy because as the time passes by
It will soon be the end of the school year it’s true;
And I’ll be back home for a visit with you!

My voice is quite healthy and in just a few days;
I’ll be heading to Singapore to keep it that way.
Keep me in your prayers, and hope that all goes right;
And that this is the end of the stupid voice fight!

What will the upcoming year bring, you might say?
Lots of adventures I’ll share with you someday!
But for now, know I hope that your year will be grand;
Merry Christmas to you from a very hot land!

Wishing you all a joyous holiday.
Merry Christmas and a joyous and prosperous New Year!

Tylene
