The New Adventures of Old Tylene...the joys of a three prep day

Well, we're 17 teaching days from Christmas holidays. Actually, it's closer to 16 1/2 now. I am excited to have Christmas break, but gladly I don't have to wait that long to have a break. This week is a four day week...we'll be breaking for Eid Al-Adha on Thursday until Tuesday of next week. That's FIVE long days of weekend. Whoo hoo. I am really looking forward to it. I might just sleep for the first two days and then see what happens. Truth be told, I'm looking forward to spending those days sewing, knitting, cooking and so on!

I will be having a few friends over this week for dinner to celebrate my birthday. It will be a nice gathering and having a long weekend means that we can celebrate into the wee hours of the morning...okay, well, they can celebrate into the wee hours of the morning...I'll probably be in bed by 10...Henry gets down right cranky when he has to be awake later than 10 :)

My first job application has been sent off to Dubai. More applications are also the plan for the upcoming week. We'll see what happens. It's sort of an intimidating process to try to scope out where to live, what school to work at and so on. Meh, I'll manage!

With winter break just around the corner it shouldn't be a surprise that mom's visit is fast approaching. I am looking forward to having her here for a visit and not spending it in the hospital. Still trying to decide on an itinerary, but that will all come, I am sure.

I am also looking forward to Christmas in Dubai with mom and Michael. Also trying to nail down a few things to do there too. It's hard when you live in the desert to think of things to do...especially during WINTER. Yup, it's arrived. It's officially cold outside. Brrr. I will need to start wearing socks and close-toed shoes pretty soon. Oh the drama!

Our school Christmas party is just a few weeks away. Secret Santa has been initiated. So far we have a really great response. Christmas is Kuwait is something I didn't really get to experience last year as I was in Europe for a month(hee hee hee), so it's been neat to have such a warm response in regards to the Christmas Party. All staff are coming together to celebrate regardless of faith, so that is really exciting.

And I think that is all that I really have to say. Twas picture day today, so I wore my contacts :( My eyes are already feeling sleepy...maybe it's the contacts...maybe it's staying up WAY too late to read my book. Hee hee hee. I am reading Breaking Dawn...the forth in the Twilight series. Perhaps I'm a little addicted.

And that was the recess bell, so I'd best use this time (30 minutes of recess following 1 hour of prep) to get my tea and refill my water bottle.

Talk to you soon

Tylene

Hey Ty - sounds like a good birthday plan but watch out for that party animal Grover. Maybe you need a properly nocturnal cat instead of one who goes to bed at 10. Like Henry, Kermit used to insist on "early to bed, early to rise (& get my breakfast!) " These days, it's mousies all night long, the fun never stops.
Have a good time.

Happy Birthday to youuuuuuuuu! Thinking of you in the sunshine as we had our first "snowfall that stuck", yesterday. I need to make sure I have the correct address for your Christmas card . . . can you e-mail me? Much love, Kristy.

icicHi, Ty,
Wow - I don't know where November went! Belated birthday greetings!! I hope you had a really celebratory party. All the best for the year ahead, with all the changes you might experience.
Probably your Mom told you about John and Jenn's baby girl being born so early. She's a 'micro preemie'. And before that Jenn was in bedrest in hospital for a week, lonely, bored and worried. Little one is tiny but perfect. She's a fighter: gaining weight, and working out, wiggling, stretching, yawning, sneezing.
We'll see your Mom briefly this weekend. She's into countdown to departure to see you!
Lots of love, Lynn
