Morning dear friends and family,
I am at school...it's about 7:05 a.m. and I'm just waiting for the great sporting event known as "Sports Day" to start. Imagine 800 students dressed in red, green, blue or yellow clothing, descending upon the campus to play. It's quite the sight, that is for sure.
Regardless, it means a couple of things. First, no teaching today (unless you count telling little people, Grades 1 - 3, how to maneuver themselves through a hoop teaching). Second, only need to be here for 1/2 a day. Currently I'm hearing a barrage of horns. Seriously...it would seem that in order for traffic to move when it's at a standstill that you must lay on the horn unceasingly. SERIOUSLY! Sorry, that was a side note.
Back to sports day...half day to play. I guess it's a good way to spend the day. My other thing is that we already have less than 170 teaching days. With Sports Day, Carnival Day, Power Outage Day, etc., we do have limited teaching days. Embrace the half day of sporty chaos, Tylene (whispers Grover). It will be an adventure.
This weekend marks the start of the Holiday Bizarre. It is possible that I have a little tutoring money tucked away in my wallet for just this type of occasion. I am excited to see the holiday fun that will follow. Being in Europe last winter for a month was great. However, this year I will get to decorate my apartment. Things to remember...Ella is naughty and will likely climb or steal anything that isn't tied down. I thought about writing "anything that isn't bigger than her", but then I had images of her dragging her stuffed dog around the house...tied down is better.
I guess that is about all the fun and frivolity that has been the last week. Oh, my allergies are still plaguing me, but the good news is that by doubling my allergy meds, that I have calmed them enough for my voice to return. I will take my little microphone with me to sports day...no sense in straining my voice.
I hope each of your enjoyed your Remembrance Day holiday...and that you did take time to remember. Remembrance Day is not honoured here (of course), but I did have a chat with my students about the day...they needed to do a little research to see what they learned!
Until next time (which I hope will be sooner than this post was...sorry 'bout that)
Tylene (and Grover)
