The New Adventures of Old Tylene...all in a days work

Greetings loved ones,

As the day winds down, I am enjoying the remaining 10 minutes of the ONLY PREP that I have today. Okay, so what if tomorrow I have three...it's hard when you only have ONE prep in a day...especially if you are like me and can't really talk. I suppose I shouldn't complain too much...I also have two recess breaks today without duty. That means that I have 80 minutes of time to myself on the day that I only have one prep. What's more exciting is that when we return from our Eid break on the 27th, my one prep day will have 120 minutes of free time for me...one hour prep and two 30 minutes recess breaks. SWEET.

Now that I've got that out of my system, I'd like you all to know that I am 4 get ups away from the first break of the year. I know, I know...I've only been at work for four weeks...yet, Ramadan is drawing to a close and Eid is just around the corner. That means one whole week of rest and relaxation.

What does one do to rest during holidays? Usually I hop on a plane and travel to an exotic location. This break, however, I'm staying in Kuwait. I will spend some time at the Corniche, a rather posh club in Kuwait that has a gym and such. I will also do some of the touristy things that Kuwait has to offer so that when mom is here in December, we can make the best use of time.

I will also spend some time in my classroom. It will give me a chance to get a head on a few things...I can't complain about that...time well spent. I have a number of friends who are sticking around as well. In fact, I am making a space shuttle birthday cake for Xavier...Rob and Angela's 6 year old son. His party is on Friday...I am quite excited...I've never made a space shuttle cake. It should be an adventure.

I must say that life in Kuwait is oodles better this year than it was last year. Perhaps it is knowing what I'm getting myself into, perhaps it's the difference in team dynamics, perhaps it's the realization that it can only go up from last year (I mean, seriously, I don't have a voice and I had surgery)

I also have a really sweet group of students. They are really great little people. Don't get me wrong...there are a few turds...but when you can't talk, I think they take pity on you!

Well, time has drawn to a close, but I think you'll agree that I got a lot out in 10 minutes. Things are going very well. I am HAPPY. I am also starting to feel human...I did sleep for about 18 hours between bedtime Thursday and bedtime Friday, but all in all, it wasn't too hard to get up to come to work. It makes a huge difference when you like coming to work.

And on that note, it's time to sign off.

Love and peace...

Tylene
