The Adventures of Grover and Tylene...The homecoming!

Huddle up in Saskatchewan...not only an appropriate song when Grey Cup was here a few years back, but still rather appropriate now. Man it's cold here.

My brothers and my mom assure me that it's actually quite warm and that I can remove one of the many layers of clothing I wear, but I'm not quite convinced. I thought mom was going to die laughing when, on Friday night, she opened all the windows in the house and I casually asked, "Ummm, how cold does it get here at night?" "Around 7 degrees" "THAT'S WINTER IN KUWAIT...I think I might need more blankets!". Needless to say I was snug as a bug in a rug with my two fleece blankets, two comforters, winter pajamas and the window open. I realize I could have slept with a few less blankets if the window was closed, but I was enjoying the FRESH air and the sounds of nature far too much.

I am now in Regina for a couple of days visiting with my brothers and friends here. It will be a fairly quiet few days as I am still trying to adjust to the time difference. Either that or my body is still recovering from surgery. Many a person has said that sometimes it's months before you feel back to normal following surgery. I am hoping to get that way rather soon.

As for the voice...well, it was a good thing to live alone in Kuwait. Now that I am home, there are so many people to talk to...which means by the end of the day I am without a voice again. BUT a few hours of rest and it's back to normal for the next day. I do need to be exceptionally careful...can't mess around with these types of things. I really do want to return not only to teaching in the fall, but also to Kuwait. Oh well, we will see how things play out.

It is great to be home. I certainly felt at home when I walked around the corner of the Calgary Airport (and by home I mean Canada...I know that I'm not from Alberta) and there, right before my eyes was a Tim Horton's. I almost sprinted to the counter...was ready to body check the woman who budded in front of me, but then remembered that Canadians are mild mannered and don't do such things, and then I ordered my half french vanilla half coffee and a doughnut. DELICIOUS. Thankfully I was already through the security checkpoint, so I didn't need to chug my drink down! Yummy, yummy, yummy!

I also knew I was home when I saw the fox trot across the highway on the way to Regina. Ooh, and mom and I saw the most spectacular sunset. It's hard to believe how much I have missed these things about Saskatchewan. OH MY GOODNESS, I almost forgot...the COWS...and the baby cows. So precious. I love cows.

Well, I suppose I best go fix something for breakfast. Have enjoyed pork in one form or another for every meal since I came home...wonder what I'll cook up today. Tee hee hee.

Much love. It's great to be home! Stay posted, I will update my blog throughout the summer too!
