Working 9 to 5

Perhaps more accurately, I'm working 6:30 to 5ish.   We're into our first full week of school and although things are starting to slow down, there are still so many things to straighten out.  Little by little we'll piece things together and things will start to be a little less labor intensive.

I've been spending a lot of time trying to gather curriculum documents over the last week or so.  Thankfully the last of the documents were copied today and binders are ready to be distributed.  As a teacher I always found having a hard copy of curriculum documents to be a great help - they became my working document as I looked for alignment and planned.  Hopefully teachers will find them to be as helpful and over the course of this year we can start identifying of strength and areas of concern.  I keep reminding myself that this is an ongoing process...that it will take time...but a part of me just wants it be done now.

I think I'll be able to be more balance in upcoming weeks as well.  As the start of the year sorts of things are wrapping up, I am able to spend more of my day focusing on the daily tasks of my job. It is my hope that come September I can shave an hour or so off my "at school" day.  We'll see how it goes.

Speaking of September, I will go to Singapore either the last week in August or the first week of September.  I will meet with my surgeon and get official word on how my recovery is going.  Today I ventured out on our school track after school and went for a walk.  Walking is a task that doesn't come easy...it requires thought and deliberate action...especially when walking on an uneven field.  In my little walk today, I hit the 1.3 km mark.  Gradually I will increase the time and distance.  One of the most challenging parts of walking is remember the heel to toe movement.  Walking longer distances takes considerable thought.

My trip to Singapore will also mean a stop to see the ENT.  I'm hoping my trips to Singapore can be spread out a little this year and simply be for check ups.  Something to look forward to, I suppose.

So there are a few things coming up in the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime I will continue to try to figure out what my job is all about.  Although a job description might be a nice thing, at this point I'm not sure it could be put into words.

Not much else to report, but figured I'd do a little update regardless.  I promise that if something exciting happens, I'll add a little update.

Ty
