Summertime, and the living is easy...

For those of you familiar with my blog, you might notice a few changes.  "From Wheat Fields to Oil Wells" has become "On the Road to Damascus".  I was trying to figure out how to change my blogger address, but would have to start a whole new blog, so hoping to not lose any of my faithful readers, I figured I could update the blog without having to change the whole site.

You'll also notice a new feature.  On the right hand side I've included some slideshows.  Clicking on those links will take you to the different pictures that are included in the slide show.  I had a request to include more pictures and figured this was a great way to do it.  Thanks to my friend Angela for telling me all about the world of slideshows.

And now, onto summer vacation.  I've had a loverly summer thus far.  Started with a visit in Humboldt, then a short trip to PA.  More time in Humboldt, a trip or two to Saskatoon, a few weeks in Regina, a few days at Kenosee, more time in Regina, a Bon Jovi concert and finally a trip to Humboldt, shopping in S'toon and a week at Waskesiu.

Now, as I write, I haven't accomplished all of that yet, but summer is wrapping up. In fact, 2 weeks from today I will have already been in Damascus for a whole day.  Crazy to think that in such a short time I will be so far away.

I've enjoyed my summer in Saskatchewan.  While I didn't travel nearly as much this summer as I did last, I have had many wonderful visits with really great friends and family.  I have cherished every moment that I've had to spend with the people here.

Other highlights include our annual Christmas in July celebrations.  We had a nice gathering the first weekend in July.  It was great to see so many of my extended family for this party.  It was a great time, with great food!  The Christmas Tree found its spot on the deck and was decorated beautifully, if I do say so myself. I took out my Christmas boxes and found the perfect spot for the Willow Tree Nativity.  From the Christmas stockings on the screen door, to the Christmas music playing on my iPod, it was a great day all around.

Mom and I took a trip out to Kenosee Boys and Girls Camp in July too.  We spent our time there in the kitchen and had a grand time.  Mom was busy making 19 dozen cinnamon buns (with a little help from me) and I was busy making about 32 dozen cookies.  It was a nice time.  I enjoy the time in the kitchen at camp so much that I have decided to take the first two weeks of next July to work in the kitchen at camp.  I think I may even have mom convinced to join me for a week, 'though she was a pretty easy person to convince.

Time at my brothers in Regina has also been quite fun.  I have enjoyed spending time with them for extended periods this summer.  While it's true I have had to be bundled up quite a bit to stay warm at their house, I wouldn't trade any of this time.  Just this past Sunday, we celebrated John's birthday early.  It was a nice time with great food (yes, good food is a commonality at our family gatherings.)

Tomorrow night will be my last night in Regina and it will be spent at Mosaic Stadium for the Bon Jovi concert.  I am looking forward to the concert and will let you know all about it after the concert is over.  Thursday morning I will head back to Humboldt.  Mom and I will head to Saskatoon to do some shopping on Friday and on Saturday we'll head to Waskesiu.  It will be a busy weekend, but the time in Waskesiu with be filled with more great visits and lots of fun.

I leave officially on August 8th.  I will be sure to forward my new contact information once I've received it.  Until the next time I'm off and on the road to Damascus!

Tylene

p.s. Yes, Grover will be joining me on this journey as well!

Hi, Tylene,
Just read your first 'Road to Damascus' blog entry.
How fast summer has gone - especially with regard to your being in Saskatchewan!
Looking forward to seeing you on the weekend.
