All roads lead to Damascus...

Well, it's official. As of yesterday morning at 7:25, I am moving to Damascus, Syria for the next two years. As I tell people who have visited Damascus, I hear repeatedly how beautiful it is. I am looking forward to the new adventures. I am sure Grover, Henry and Ella are also very excited. Henry and Ella get to stay in Kuwait this summer. Rubi will watch them while I am in Canada. Then, the pet people will have them shipped to Syria. I am sure, in the end, they will really appreciate having only a two or three hour flight rather than spending more than 24 hours flying back to Canada and then back again to Syria.

I will be teaching at Damascus Community School. Right now, I'm slotted for Grade Five, but if the middle school enrollment continues to rise, then I'll move up to Middle School English and Social Studies. It's a school with a fairly good reputation. I am excited about the opportunity and am looking forward to all the adventures that living in Syria will bring.

There is a part of me that is sad that I won't be returning to Canada, yet at the same time, I'm not quite ready to move back yet. As such, I think this is the perfect balance...home for the summer, off to Syria until Christmas, home again for the winter break and back to Syria for the rest of the year. That's the plan, anyway. We'll see how it all pans out in the end.

Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement during the last stressful months (okay, and the years in Kuwait too!!!) I look forward to visiting with you all this summer. I am sure some of you (read: my brothers) will be most glad to see me leave after I descend upon their house for weeks at a time. Hee hee.

Talk to you soon. Two, maybe three more posts from Kuwait to come :) Wonder if I need to change my blog address when I leave Kuwait...or just change the adventures...Hmmmmm

Hi, Ty,
I'm happy for you that you'll continue your international school adventure! Are you still with American International Schools? I'll keep my fingers crossed for the Middle Years position.
Can't wait to see you in Canada this summer!
Love, Lynn
