Drawing to a close

Here we are, another beautiful Monday. It's a good thing that Monday was beautiful because Saturday we had the most wicked dust storm EVERY and Sunday it continued to rain gross mud leaving us with humid and hot weather. Regardless, things are drawing to a close here in good ol' Kuwait.

Tomorrow, our Grade 5 students will present their Grade Five Exhibition - the culmination of the Primary Years Programme. It's been a very intense 6 weeks that has lead up to this week. Today students had a dress rehearsal for the Grade 3s & 4s. Tomorrow there will be an open house for the rest of the school and tomorrow afternoon from 2:00 - 3:00 students will have a chance to share their work with their parents and special guests. It will be an exciting time, I'm sure, however I can't wait for it to be over.

I met with the mover on Saturday. I still haven't received my quote for what it will cost to move me home, but I should get that in the next few days. What I have learned is that shipping what I have by air instead of by sea will be a cheaper option. That's always good to know. Furthermore I won't have to worry about packing - they will take care of that too. Yes, it's a service I pay for, but really, I have enough packing and unpacking to do when I get home this summer...okay, more unpacking once I decide where "Home" is. All of this takes time, and decisions depend on a considerable number of factors. Never quite sure what is what...to the point where I just wanna know. At any rate, the future will happen, regardless of what I do to try to stop it.

The other morning we had a wicked dust storm. It started innocent enough, but within 10 or 15 minutes were were covered in complete darkness. The sky was black - at 7:30 in the morning. It was the most bizarre thing ever. Even people who've been in Kuwait for years and years don't recall such a dust storm. It was bizarre to see. I will try to track down some pictures and post them next week.

And I guess that's all that is going on in the desert. I'm still working hard at the gym - completed my very first full lunge track last week...did two, two days in a row, as a matter of fact. Was kind of a neat accomplishment. Sadly, yesterday's pump class was from hell AND the lunge track was brutal - I only missed the last lunge - one lunge that takes up 8 beats of music. Oh so close.

And on that note I shall sign off. There are something like 54 days until I return home. That means only 54 more days at the gym...oh how I'll miss my gym!

Hope all is well, talk to you soon!

Hi, Ty,
It's 4:50 pm on 19 April here and I'm looking forward to hearing about how the grade 5's "exhibition" went. Hope all you grade 5 teachers celebrated together. Also hope that the parents and students enjoyed the event.
It's 23 degrees above and G and I and Roxie just came back from "walksies". Walksies with Roxie is a daily pleasure. Spring is here - leaf buds beginning to show on the trees, meadow larks and red wing blackbirds singing and frogs croaking in the sloughs. Had a little rain to wash away the dust and melt the last of the snow.
I would like the meetings and conferences to be over so we could just enjoy being at home and outside in the sunshine. But there are weeks of that kind of thing still to go. I'm interested in seeing your pictures of the black storm!
Thinking of you - saying goodbye is never easy - but it's going to be a pleasure to have you closer, as in SK!
Lots of love, Lynn
