The New Adventures of Old Tylene...just another manic Monday

Dearest Family and Friends,

No need to panic...not really another manic Monday...just had a song in my head. Well, the day is done...the sun's still shining...the kidlets are at P.E., life is pretty good I suppose. I have been really enjoying the day to day teaching part of my job. My kids are just darling. They are very sweet and I can't complain at all...they are very respectful.

It's strange to see the Grade Fives this year...they are so little when compared to last year's class. To see the Grade Fours in the hallway marks an even more dramatic difference...they are just itty bitty. I don't imagine they'd like to be considered itty bitty, but that is the reality.

We're in the midst of progress reports, which seven weeks into the school year is always a bit of a challenge...especially considering the first month was Ramadan. Regardless things are coming along. I have two of the five sections of progress reports finished. If you'll remember, last year I vented about the obscene amount of work progress reports are...still as ridiculous, but somehow easier to manage. Perhaps it's being mandated to use a bank of comments rather than writing my own...I must admit it is frustrating, but if that is what I am told that I MUST do, sobeit.

Life at the Corniche is as pleasant as always. I need to start taking advantage of the pool and the sun more often...but we red heads don't do well when it's 30 above and we sit in the hot sun to bake. I just want a little colour...not a lot, just enough to be able to say that I am no longer frog belly white.

Whilst spending my time at the Corniche, I continue to take time to work out. Last night was a step class for 50 minutes. I'd like to say that it was fantabulous, but the reality is that it nearly killed me. Was a great class...I'd do it again...but it nearly killed me. There is something great about leaving a workout and being dripping in perspiration (I know...over-share). It took a while for my face to return to a normal colour...was tomato red for much of the evening.

Still haven't contracted H1N1. Three confirmed cases in my class. We'll see how quickly it all starts to spread now. I am hoping to avoid the whole deal...we'll see how my little immune system can handle it!

Health wise things are pretty good. I am not suffering at all from the allergies that I was last year...maybe it's the daily nasal spray and antihistamine...maybe it's becoming more acclimatized...who knows. I'm not going to argue. It's nice to be able to breath most days. I've also managed to stay away from the International Clinic (aside from routine blood work and follow up). Go me!

Well, it's almost time to grab my kidlets so that I can dismiss them. I hope that this blog finds everyone well. Next week is parent conferences, progress reports and, of course, Halloween. Not sure what I'm going to dress up as...I somehow suspect that a nun just won't cut it here!

Many blessings to all.

Ty
