The last two weeks

Shame on me, it's almost the middle of September and I have yet to take the time to catch everyone up on all the excitement of my life in Indonesia. Let me tell you, the excitement is plentiful and oh so exciting.  No, that is not dripping in sarcasm, I am trying to be very positive :)

Since I last wrote, I have had a massage at the Shangri-la, a massage, a delightful hour of reflexi, and a mani and pedi at Glow.  Yes, I have a hard life.  But for what it's worth, I also work very hard and deserve every single hour of pampering.

Still on the side of health and wellness, I've spend the last two weeks having physio therapy on my shoulder.  The treatments have been working wonderfully and I am starting to feel almost normal.  I have returned to the gym this week and am doing some strengthening exercises.  I must admit it is really frustrating when simple sorts of exercises are very difficult to do.  However, will due care and attention, this too shall pass!  I have also returned to the pool on my off days at the gym.  I can even use my legs AND arms to swim!  I am such a risk-taker.  Go me!

Last week I had a ridiculously awful cold.  It really just kicked the wind out of me.  I had lost my voice...sort of.  It wasn't laryngitisy...just really hoarse.  The worst part about the whole thing was the horribly sore throat.  Thankfully, I was able to go to bed early last Friday and stayed in bed literally all day on Saturday, so by Sunday, I was feeling human again.  I've had a great week at work and am starting to feel like my old self again.  It is always a little worrisome when I wake up and have a scratchy, cracky voice.  Thankfully this time it was accompanied by a brutally sore throat and runny nose :)  Yes, I know, weird things for which to be thankful.

One of the best discoveries of the last few weeks is that I can still message all my dear friends and family who have an iPhone.  I suppose had I taken the time to really research my devices, I would have learned that not only can I do so on my phone and iPad, but have had the ability to do so on my computer all along.  I first became suspicious this summer in Edmonton when my iPad would get messages that were sent to my iPhone.  I figured it was some sort of weird Mac syncing thing since my iPad didn't have a sim card and was just connected to wireless.  But nope, I arrived in Indonesia and my iPhone has been in airplane mode since my departure from Vancouver, so it's all legit.  It is just another really great way to be able to keep in touch with people at home!  Makes me feel just that much closer!

I have also discovered the beauty of FaceTime.  Also available on all my devices.  It's great to have so much time on my hands to explore all the tricks!  I enjoyed FaceTime with  my family this summer while I was in Edmonton for my brother's birthday.  It's been super fun to get to be a part of other family celebrations since I left.  Last weekend, I was able to get in on the horrible Rider game as my family gathered for my other brother's birthday.  The Rider App on my iPhone and iPad also make sure I am keeping up with the latest information on our dear Riders.  I am looking forward to this weekend because I think the game is on at a time that doesn't have me waking up before the sun to listen live.  I must admit that I have my limits and typically can only wake up between 4:30 and 5:00 allowing me to catch the last half of the game.

We are settling into our routines at school.  I really find these days a challenge with fourth graders.  They are so very little...it's incredible to see how much they change throughout the year, but let me tell you, the first weeks really suck!  I still really have a fondness for middle school, though I must admit, in the past years, these little gaffers have really grown on me...sometimes like a fungus!

This coming weekend we have a PD session on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.  It is going to make for a very busy weekend after a very busy week, but I am hoping to find the time needed to catch up on emails, university work, and perhaps a movie!  We have Back to School night next Tuesday, so the business doesn't seem to let up just yet.  However, we have a long weekend coming up the last weekend of September.  I think I can, I think I can!

And with that I will be off.  Perhaps later today I will add a few pics, but currently I am typing on my school laptop and thus do not have my photos with me.  If not, I will be sure to include some photos for my next blog.

Until next time,

Ty
