Meetings in Athens

Last Thursday, I left for a teacher rep meeting in Athens.  It was a great trip - although far too fast.  I didn't realize just how much fun it can be to network with other teachers from the region.  The meeting left plenty of time for shopping and site seeing, but as I have been to Athens before and will be there again in April (hopefully with my momma) I figured working my uni class was time well spent.  Don't feel too bad for me.  I did go have dinner at the Plaka on Friday night.

I arrived back in Damascus late on Saturday night.  Even though it was a short flight, between layover times and a late arrival, I find that such weekends away really takes a lot out of me.  I ought not complain, though.  I am sure there are some faithful blog followers who would tar and feather me for complaining about how tired I am after a weekend in Athens.  hee hee hee.

School is ticking along.  It's been a rough start to the year.  I am having many issues in my class (as i mentioned before).  I find that by the end of the day, I am quite drained.  Cathy and I are maintaining our daily walk.  We've even started to run part of the time.  Crazy, I know, but someday I'll be ready for my marathon.

This week will be a busy one with open house tomorrow and just the regular teachery things that take up the days.  Progress reports go out in just a few weeks.  I also think there are plans in the works for a trip to Lebanon. I'm not sure I will go - right now I just want some down time to hide in my apartment.  We'll see what the next few weeks bring.

I guess that is all I have to report.  With Thanksgiving approaching, I've been toying with the idea of having people for dinner.  However, it's the same weekend as the Lebanon trip.  There's also a part of me that is really embracing the KISS principle.  While I love cooking for a crowd, I'm just not feeling it this time.  We'll see what happens, I guess.

And on that note, I have math books to grade.  Will talk to you all soon.  Hope you are well.

Ty
