The Adventures of Grover and Tylene: Having a ball at the BALL!!!

Greetings and salutations from Kuwait,

So, we're starting to get to higher temperatures...this week we're around 37 - 39. Strangely enough, it's hot, but not unbearable. It's gonna be quite the shock for my mom when she arrives here on Wednesday.

Yup, it's true...in just three more sleeps my momma will be landing in Kuwait. I must admit that I wish she were coming so we could just hang out and have lots of fun. I guess there will be lots of time to hang out; I hope some of it will be fun; I just wish surgery weren't the cause for the visit.

In case you haven't heard, I will be having surgery on May 11th. Surgery is intended to remove my thyroid and hopefully restore my voice. However, it is uncertain as to what will happen, so we'll hope for the best and prepare for the worst. It will be an interesting experience, if nothing else! Wednesday will be my last day of work for at least two weeks. There will be a sub hired in my room until the end of the year, even if I am able to make it back. It will give my voice a much needed rest.

But the real reason for this blog is to tell about the ball. On Friday, May 1st, Grover and I attended the Anzak ball - a big party hosted by Australian and New Zealand big-wigs. I was dashing (if I do say so myself) in my tiger-print ball gown...full length, to the ground. My dear friend Angela did my make up and I had my hair done...before I fixed it so I could go out in public...a little bit stressed I was!

Jason and Mel and I arrived with plenty of time to enter the early bird draw and other door prize draws but sadly, I didn't win anything. I did, however dance up a storm. Oh the ball I had at the ball.

There were no rendez-vous"s" - (how do you pluralize that one??) to speak of, but at one point, Grover was getting a little bit fresh with one Jenny. He's very bold! I guess when you're blue, you can dare to be a little bold!

And that's life in a nutshell. Here's the link to a few of the ball pictures...

Hope all is well back home. Lots of love...

You looked beautiful! The "Belle of the Ball"!!

So glad your mom is coming to be there with you for your surgery. Everyone has been thinking of you, praying for you, and hoping that everything goes well! It's good that you're going to rest after the surgery - take it easy and enjoy the time you have to relax! Take care girlie! Good luck with your surgery! Big hugs, prayers and good thoughts heading your way from Simon, Kyle and I!

Dear Ty,
We saw your Mom off on her flight to the desert last night. So glad she'll be with you! I hope that you two can enjoy some time touring around your Kuwaiti home town.
So glad you found an exotic ball gown - wonderful colors for your red-headed self. Was Grover there to keep an eye on you or the other way around?! They say the folks from 'DownUnder' are the best part-ers in the world, so Grover was learning from the best. Although I seem to remember that Bailey's is your dirink??
Lots of positive thoughts and prayers for you. We look forward to hearing from your Mom.
Lots of love, Lynn
