The Adventures of Grover and Tylene: A picture's worth a thousand words Part 2. September 4, 2008

Much of my time in Kuwait has been spent setting up my classroom or my apartment. However, recently, thanks to my friends Jenny and Steve, I've had the opportunity to be more of a sightseer and expand The Adventures of Grover and Tylene. Enjoy...

Editor's note: (actually, note from Tylene, but wanted to sound official) Many thanks to Jenny and Steve for their willingness to be a part of G & T's adventure...never once shying away from a picture with a little blue stuffed animal!

Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...oops, I mean Fahaheel!

From what I could tell, Fahaheel has it all. You can shop in a traditional Kuwaiti market...and it's not uncommon as you're walking down the street to have store owners approach you and invite you in. Furthermore, in an attempt to entice you, they will often offer you a soda, or juice, or water. There are also a number of shopping malls and restaurants. I'm sure I could spend a paycheque quite easily when spending time in Fahaheel...oooh, great jewelry markets as well!

One common sight in Kuwait is the corn carts. I had my first Kuwaiti cup of corn with Jenny and Steve at the corn cart.

Delicious! I didn't think corn could taste so good. Grover was quite fond of the corn as well!

It's a bird...It's a plane...it's Super Oyster

Only in Kuwait can you find a giant oyster with a pearl as decor in a shopping Mall. For the record, there was also a baby oyster and pearl, but I didn't want to draw any MORE attention to myself.

Jenny, Grover and I at the end of our Fahaheel adventure. We tried on numerous occassions to get Steve in the picture, but it would appear that trying to take a picture of three people and a grover (as well as the beautifully lit palm tree) proves to be too much

The Mall...

It was a beautiful sight as evening came and the lights shone. Kuwait is known for it's nightlife, so while things during the day might be a little drab, the evenings show a completely different story.

Grover's Greatest Discovery

As we were heading back to the jeep, Grover was delighted to see grass. He's so proud as he shows off his new favourite play area!

Fear not dear friends...there is more to come. Stay tuned for the next installment of Grover and Tylene's Grand Adventure to the Lulu Hypermarket!
