Christmas Letter 2015 (Written on January 3, 2016)

Dearest friends,

I hope that you enjoy the poetic account of the year in review.

My letter is late, there has been lots to do;
But here’s my two-thousand fifteen for you.
Where should I start, how about today;
And we’ll go backwards, I’ll lead the way!

January the third is already here;
Which means that soon I will not be near.
I’m already waiting for the plane;
What am I thinking, am I insane?

The end of the year was a lot of fun;
All over the province I did run.
To Regina, and Humboldt, and Saskatoon too;
I wish I could spend time with each of you.

But in those two weeks the visits were grand;
Very close to my heart I keep my home-land.
And all the people who make it home;
It is back  to you that I’ll always roam!

November was busy, as it always is;
With report cards and birthdays and other such biz.
Karaoke with friends helped to pass the time;
I wonder if I could sing this rhyme.

And in November an announcement was made;
My time in SUB was not yet to fade.
Next year the principal I will be;
I really must say I am proud of me.

October was lovely, we had a break;
But there was no journey that I planned to take.
A staycation was just what I wanted the most;
After a thanksgiving feast I did host.

October also meant Halloween fun;
If there was a costume parade I’d have won.
I was the cutest Minnie in sight;
Don’t try to deny it - you know that I’m right.

And that takes us now to plans for September;
It was so long ago I can’t hardly remember.
I went to Mt. Bromo and climbed to the top;
But once I was there, Asthma said, KINDLY STOP.

So that’s what I did for the next several weeks;
I coughed and I wheezed and was red in the cheeks.
But Asthma calmed down and I was fine and dandy;
And next time I’ll keep my inhaler right handy.

August was staring the school year again,
I met lots of people who I now call my friends.
The year started so good, I really must say;
That it makes my job great at the end of the day.

July back at home saw the old and the new;
I caught me a fish, but not in a canoe.
I spent time with family and friends while at home;
All over the province is where I would did roam.

As I think about June, it was a hard time;
And I can’t make it better even with rhyme.
Three special souls left this earth far too soon.
Tina, Luigi and Sharon, their names,
Enriching the lives in whose contact they came

May was the wrap up for much of the year;
I think if I could everyday I’d drink beer!
The end of the year is always busy and mad;
And when it was over I was so really glad.

My mom came in April and it was sublime;
We travelled to Lombok for some Tugu time.
We learned to cook spicy Indonesian cuisine;
It was the most beautiful Tugu we’d ever seen.

A whole week was spent in Singapore too;
And if Mom wasn’t there I would have been mighty blue.
My shoulder was being a pain the arse;
And quality physio in Indo is sparse.

A rotator cuff repair was the fun;
During February break, while my friends found the sun.
The doc sewed me up and sent me on back;
It would be quite a while before I was on track.

A few complications meant it would take long;
For my shoulder to heal and not end up all wrong.
It’s not perfect yet, but it’s well on its way;
To be as it should be at the end of the day.

And lastly, January, a whole year ago;
I don’t quite remember what happened and so
With that I will end my poem for this year
And hope that your Christmas was filled with much cheer.

And may this new year bring peace, love, and joy;
To each man and woman, to each girl and boy.
