Well, now that I am finished teaching for today, we are officially down to three more work days before winter break. Somehow it all seems more manageable now. Whoo hoo. My students have been working these last two weeks on projects in ELA and Social Studies. They are drawing to a close (on Wednesday). Smart teacher here is arranging so that she doen't have a load of marking to do over the holiday. Pretty smart, eh. Things I've learned in the 8th year of teaching!
Kitties will move to Maggie's house on Friday. Hopefully they will make the transition okay and be on their best behaviour. Henry's Eeyore cry can be enough to drive anyone mad (until you look at his sad little face, then you just want to scoop him up and snuggle him). He's still in burrowing mode, but it's not quite as unexpected as last week. I should feel honoured to be so loved! Ella senses something is up, is a little more needy, but all in all, her usual self. So far the Christmas tree is still standing. I will take it down on Thursday so I don't have to worry about the turd (Ella, not the tree) during the holidays. It will also make things easier should we not return after winter break. One less thing to pack up.
I've been without a voice for a week now. It's starting to wear thin. Just when I thought things were turning around, a cold up and landed on my face this morning. So frustrated. Hopefully it will pass and I will be healthy for my trip. I don't like being sick on vacation, but it would appear that is what happens. Maybe that is why staycations are such a good idea.
Our elementary Christmas concert is on Wednesday. It should be a good show. Our Music teacher works so hard for these events. Hopefully things will go off without a hitch. I imagine there will be a few extra practices tomorrow and Wednesday in preparation for the big day.
My apartment inventory is complete - mostly. I have made my list and checked it twice. Things that I MUST have are to be shipped. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter to me what happens to it. The reality is if we get evacuated, I don't think the local staff will want to be spending days packing up my stuff. They will have things like family and friends to worry about.
All in all it's been an uneventful week. I am super ready for break, but it won't get here any faster. I finished my last assignment for my uni class a whole day before the extension that I'd been granted. I was quite proud of myself. I just really wanted to get it off my plate. Last night, to celebrate, four of us went to the Four Seasons Hotel to enjoy the atmosphere and some amazing italian food. We also happened upon the reception for their anual tree lighting, so that was beautiful - really puts you in the Christmas spirit.
And on that note, I shall hit "post", go see if I can fnd the music teacher to see if I can nail down practice times for tomorrow. Until next time...

p.s. I know, lame ending, but my nose is running, my head is stuffed and my throat itches :(

Hi, Ty,
I'm typing under more than my usual innate difficulties because Myrtle has decided that she must have a lap RIGHT NOW! to compensate for Susan having abandoned her and gone off to work.
Given our time difference, you and your students are probably basking in the afterglow of the concert performances!
Congrats on getting that last assignment off your mind and also for being so philosophical about having to inventory your possessions! What a job!! Hope you can now relax, rest your throat and look forward to your holiday trip.
Lots of love, Lynn
